STATE [No. 128, September Term, 1960.] Court of Appeals of Maryland. Decided July 3, 1961. The cause was argued before BRUNE, C.J., and HENDERSON, HAMMOND, PRESCOTT and HORNEY, JJ. William B. Kempton, Jr., for appellant. Charles E. Wehland, Assistant Attorney General, with whom were Thomas B. Finan, Attorney General, Saul A. Harris, State's Attorney for Baltimore City, and Leonard C. Kennedy, Assistant State's Attorney, on the brief, for appellee. PRESCOTT, J., delivered the opinion of the Court. The appellant was convicted by a jury in the Criminal Court of Baltimore of the crime of selling heroin on August 3, 1960, and received a sentence of seven years in the Maryland Penitentiary, a period of five of which were suspended. He now appeals from the judgment entered upon his conviction, and relies for reversal upon three contentions: (1) That the trial court erred in permitting the prosecution, over objection, to introduce a confession made by the accused, *190 and statements made by him at the time of his arrest; (2) that the State failed to prove the chain of custody of the narcotics; and (3) that the evidence was insufficient to support the conviction. An expert in the use and handling of narcotics then described in detail the manner of his examination of the exhibit, the process of making tests on it, and his conclusions. He testified, over the objection of counsel for the defendant,
